Dr. Ferson holds a PhD in ecology and evolution from Stony Brook University and an A.B. in biology from Wabash College. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed papers, mostly in the field of risk analysis and uncertainty for environmental sciences and engineering. He has also published 5 books on risk analysis and related topics.

 

Ferson was a senior scientist as Applied Biomathematics for many years where he helped to develop several risk analysis based softwares including RAMAS Risk Calc 4.0 and RAMAS Risk Imaging. He is currently the Chair of Uncertainty Engineering at the University of Liverpool. There he runs the Institute of Risk and Uncertainty.
